World of Warcraft’ remote chat and auction home apps cost-free for just about any week

Blizzard has released a remote chat app for Android and iPhone. Players will now have access to the auction house, the armory and guild chat via their mobile device. Screens also show players having the ability to send tells, as well. The apps are available via the App Store and Android Market. The apps are available for free trials until May 10, when the prices will return to their standard $2.99/month.

The app is, admittedly, pretty cool, and as a person who used to play the AH quite profitably, I won’t lie — I would have dug this app in our WoW days. The app allows players to create, bid and watch auctions wow gold http://www.flywowgold.com from your phone, even if your character is not logged out in a major city. The app also combines your mailbox, bags, and bank slots into one convenient-to-access screen, thus eliminating the need for the AH-mailbox-bank dance. Players are also able to relist expired auctions and view competitors’ pricing. Admittedly, even the best AH mods back in the day could not touch this.

The guild chat feature is the only thing that leaves me cold. You can now see who is online, in-guild so that you can … what? Plan raids while you’re in your marketing meeting? Talk about that annoying healer (oh, you know who you are) while you’re in line at the DMV? It just seems like yet another distraction and gimmick, with a $2.99/month price tag. But then, maybe I have just never wanted to stay that in touch with any of my guildies.
